Insights from the “Six-Syllable Breathing Technique”

The “Six-Syllable Breathing Technique” is an ancient Chinese practice for healing, health preservation, and spiritual cultivation. The Taishang Xuanling Sect, under the guidance of Zen Master Zhang Bu Sheng, has refined this technique to help practitioners quickly enter the state of non-action (Wu Wei) and follow the five-element sequence. This is a crucial foundational practice for advanced life-preserving techniques.

When I began practicing two years ago, I found the Six-Syllable Breathing Technique boring. My blood sugar was high, and I could only maintain it at around 6.0 mmol/L through exercise, diet, and sleep, which was challenging. I knew I needed this practice to clear my internal organs. Last March, as my Samatha-Vipassana meditation improved, I resumed the Six-Syllable Breathing Technique. The process became easier, and my fasting blood sugar stabilized at around 5.5 mmol/L.

On the night of April 6th, through my practice of the Six-Syllable Breathing Technique, I observed the sunset reach the Shengfa (Reproductive) Palace inwardly, inhale to the stomach, held at the lower Dantian, sink to the Shengfa Palace, and exhale to the Yongquan acupoint like a fire spout. All six senses ceased at the lower Dantian, where a rapidly spinning red ball of light appeared. In a daze, I inhaled qi to the Yuzhen acupoint. As it traveled through the spine to the Mingmen and the kidneys, I suddenly visualized a large lump of purple-black stool passing out. Later, while practicing liver-gallbladder breathing, I saw many small white fragments falling like snowflakes from a giant tree covered by a black net. Starving after practice, I ate a lot of snacks and slept soundly, and the next morning, my fasting blood sugar was 5.0 mmol/L, the best in years!

The following day, I consulted the Master via WeChat. He explained: ” White represents metal, which restrains wood. Metal shedding indicates increased liver energy. Wood is formed by water, and the black net represents kidney energy spreading throughout the body. The net represents the meridian network. Because kidney water must be refined by liver wood, it reflects the abundant kidney energy. These are from the first level of superior contemplation.”

The level of Samatha-Vipassana practice truly determines the cultivation effect. Master Zhang did not deceive me! I recall him repeatedly asking me about my progress in the basic practice of the first level and emphasizing the importance of Samatha and Vipassana in quickly entering the state of natural passive state (non-doing). I’m both embarrassed and grateful Master Zhang, with compassion and the mission to save sentient beings, has taught and personally demonstrated many supreme for the public. May all sentient beings gain genuine benefits from these practices, fulfilling the great compassion and mercy of the Master! 🙏🙏🙏
